Public nudity
On Sunday, the kids were all chasing around and getting ready for church, and Tom was sitting on the couch with the baby. Jack was doing gymnastics on the couch, and slid off hitting his back and sliding down on the edge of the coffee table. He started crying, and was really upset, so Tom asked him if he was ok and where it hurt. Jonathan responded "right here". Tom asked, "where?". Jonathan responded by pulling his pants/underwear down and mooning him.. "right THERE, daddy".

I told you so
I had a really cool thing happen yesterday. Tom had brought to my attention the fact that we had very little bread left, and wanted me to get more. I told him that it would have to wait, because we didn't have the money to make a food run until the 2nd paycheck in April. Yesterday I had a surprise visit from Angie, our new RS pres. She knows someone who works at a grocery store, and finds homes for bread etc. that is expired, or very close to expiration. I've gotten bread and things from her before, and she usually calls first, so I was surprised to see her so soon after the conversation with Tom. She gave us 4 loaves of bread, some salad mix, and some pepperidge farm cookies. I'm glad I pay my tithing.

Lost art forms
My Grandma gave me her sewing machine, and assorted stuff to go with it. I only sew a little, but enough to actually be able to use it. Today my sister came over and showed me how to use it (my mom got her almost the same one only newer) and today I was able to finish the receiving blankets and burp rags for my BFF who I'm going to see in like 3 weeks! I still have to finish the ones for my BFF who lives here though. I had been using her sewing machine up until now, but I like Grandma's better.

Moving
So we finally got rid of the Ginormous TV in our living room. Wow, it looks so much more roomy now! I got to move my stereo down from the top of the book case, and now I can listen to my CD's again! Even Tom had a hard time reaching it. Now we just have to figure out how to hook the stereo up to the TV so we have quality sound :)

Busy days
I love the smell of laundry, and food cooking. I love the sounds of kids happily playing on the other side of the house. I love when it gets warm enough to send them outside to play. I love watching movies with my husband, and playing with the baby. I love planning out all the trips and fun things we have coming up. I love playing with my new niece, and seeing my sister. I love seeing my friends from church outside of church. I love that I can stay home with my kids, and do all these things. I just have to remember this when I have back-to-back appointments and don't have time to eat or use the bathroom.

Valentines
Every year we sit down and send valentines to all our family members, both far and near. Because of my working this year, we didn't do that. The kids were so sad. I was sad. We've done this every year since I can remember, at least since Rayzel could write her name. This is the first year in a long time that we haven't done it. I was toying with the idea of doing St. Patricks Day valentines, but, I don't think it'll be the same. So, for all those who are accustomed to getting valentines from us, and anyone who reads this.....
Happy Valentines Day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

Sleeping habits
I think we have finally figured out the system for getting the baby to sleep through the night.
1. He can't be sick.
2. He has to eat at least 10 times during the day.
3. He has to have 1 long nap during the day.
4. He has to have a warm shower before bed.
5. He has to be in bed before 9:30pm.
6. He has to have total silence.
7. He can't be too hot or too cold.
8. And last, you have to pull his pacifier out of his mouth without waking him up before you put him down.
Wish us luck.

Crazy Sundays
I don't think that anyone should have to give a 15-20 minute talk in church on the same sunday that they have to do sharing time, and also happens to be the same sunday that you turn your clocks forward an hour. Thats just wrong.

Private conversations
My husband, in his line of work, often has the unpleasant job of removing people's things from their homes because they didn't pay their rent. He was doing one of these jobs yesterday, and it was taking a longer than expected. Tom came home from work, and I asked him how his day was. It turns out that the guy they were trying to evict had slit his wrists. I wondered out loud why anyone would choose slitting their wrists as the best way to commit suicide because it pretty much guarantees a slow painful death. Tom was of the same opinion. Tom then stated that he thought pill poppers were cowards. I disagreed and commented that if I were depressed enough to kill myself, I'd probably be an overdoser. Tom then commented that he would probably be a jumper. We both agreed that hanging was not an option either, and after a few more minutes dicussion realized how funny it was that we were having this conversation. Just for the record though, I don't think either of us will commit suicide. :)

Freedom!!!!!
Today was Jack's first day of Pre-K! He was so excited, but not as excited as me. We had to get up early with Dad, and we ate breakfast. We left on time, but got lost on campus(it's at the local high school). When we found the right classroom, Jack surprised me by doing an awesome ostrich impression. I was not expecting this. He seemed to be ok with me leaving, and waved goodbye, then curled back up facedown on the floor and covered his head with his arms. I left. When I came back, he jumped up out of the story circle to come tell me about everything he did in the 2 hours I was gone. He proudly told me that he had built an "mentry" school out of blocks, ate bear crackers and drank apple juice, and colored a bunny rabbit. He was sad to see that I was there to take him home, not to check on him. He was super excited to go back tomorrow. So am I.

Things kids say......
We went to my sister's house yesterday for dinner, to celebrate my niece getting blessed. My brother-in-law was showing the kids his fossilized shark teeth, and somehow in the process of explaining that they were left to him by his grandmother, it came out that she was dead. Jonathan immediately asks...
"Who killed her?"
My first thought was..
"thats kinda funny, and sooo cute of him", followed by..
"kinda creepy too, I hope it wasn't offensive to my brother-in-law", followed by....
"Actually if we want to be technical, God killed her, but I shoudn't tell him that, it would be too confusing, so what SHOULD I tell him?"
While I was thus pondering, my brother in law responds with "nobody, she just died." Jonathan says "oh." and walks away. Way to go Alex.

Trapped
I love snow days. Well, really, who doesn't, but, I love them because my kids get to stay home from school. I love playing with my kids and spending time with them. Today we are going to make rice crispy treats with spice drops in them, then Dad will take them sledding behind the house. They'll come in freezing and I'll have hot chocolate waiting, then we'll watch a movie and make dinner. It's going to be a great day.

I need a map
Do you ever look at your life and go.."what am I doing on THIS side?" You notice that you are trying to do certain things, but not doing what you need to in order to accomplish them. You, in fact, are actually doing things that, while not entirely counter-productive, have put you facing in the opposite direction, so you're craning your neck to see what you need to do, going, "see, I can still do it this way..." when in reality you can't. Then, when you seriously need a trip to the chiropractor, you realize you are facing the wrong way, and all your problems can be solved by just turning around. So you do. I love church. It's so simple. God is the chiropractor of life.
