The Annual Outer Banks Beach Trip

I only have 4 more trips to post about and I will have caught up from last year....yay! These are all from our trip to NC with the Kelley side of the family last July.....in no particular order of course ;)

Driving up :)  Calvin was staying with Grandma Mollenhauer this summer, so that's why he's not in any of the pics....
Yay! Vacation!
James actually socializing... a big step!
Cutie!!
Sunburned cutie!!
Great picture of Miss Nana COMPLETELY blocking Miss Rayzel....Rayzel spent SO much time in the water that I didn't get any clear pics of her :(
"Daddy, lets go to the pool!"
Tom has to hold him back from swimming in the ocean unsupervised....
Tom buries Jack in the sand
James watches Dad bury Jack in the sand
Jack inevitably gets sand in his eyes. Poor Jack...
Foosball!
Our trip to Ocracoke Island....waiting...
...For our turn at the restrooms...
My new favorite picture of Rayzel
Walking around the island
Local flora...very pretty...
Our first stop.....
Entrance to the lighthouse
It's bigger than it looks...really....
It was so hot, that we needed to stop for ice cream......
Jack really likes cemeteries...it was his idea to pose like this....
Sometimes I wonder about that kid....
Another cemetery
It's a lot cooler in the shade
My man :)
Normal Jack
At a museum on the island that featured some interesting black history...James was obsessed with the dolls...he kept snatching them out of their cradle when we weren't looking....it was actually a tug of war scenario at one point and we left soon afterwards....
Riding the free ferry :D
Graveyard of the Atlantic museum-also free :)
Cool submarine
Lighthouse slash quilt exhibit...very cool....
Apparently there was something gross in the pirate exhibit. Shocker.

Lake Artemesia

Just some pics from last fall at Lake Artemesia.....can you believe it's November here?! Anyway, I got some good ones, and wanted to share :)
PS....I think if you click on the pics you can see them bigger, and they are WAY better bigger :D

Fort Washington

We went to Fort Washington on Presidents day. It's not often that Tom and the kids have a day off on the same day, so we took advantage of it and went exploring :) We went to Mount Vernon first, but it was crazy packed (which we thought might happen). The back-up plan was the Crime and Punishment museum but then I was playing with an app on my phone and found this place....Score!!
These pictures are in no particular order......

Checking out the museum slash gift shop
After being in the car for 2 hours, everybody needed to use the bathroom....
Running down the hill....happy to be outside
Tom assaulting Jack....or something....
James scraped his hand pretty early on and obsessed over it the rest of the day
Trying to put hand sanitizer on his scrape
"Mom! There's a dead animal over there!"
Everybody has to go look at it....
James found the water...."Lets go swimming!"
"Look at all the garbage!"
Rayzel found a pretty shell
Jack has a pretty impressive warrior face...you'll see this same face many times throughout this post....
My man :)
Every boy needs a stick
Of course every boy has their own idea of what that special stick should be like....
Rayzel is so funny....
Nana and Rayzel
Calvin and Jack
SO glad we had the leash in the car....
The boy loves his stairs
In a hole in the ground, there lived a hobbit....
My kids are climbers....this fact should probably scare me, but, it doesn't....
"Look mom, it's Bilbo Baggin's house!"
LUNCH!!
STARVING!!
We're goin' in!
Love the sign lol! Too bad I didn't get a good picture of it....
Calvin figured out how to open the cell door....not sure if he was supposed to or not, but, oh well....
In the cell
So windy....

....Up here!
Nice house...wonder what they used it for?
Fantabulous view!
Cute kid

Looking back
Trying to see in the window....
Not much to see...looks like they are remodeling, maybe?
We explore every nook and cranny
Two sticks now
Up high
Nana and Jack
"Mom, you need to take yet another picture of me with my sticks..."
He finally got tired of the stairs and came to see where the rest of us were....
Busy man...
Trying to escape
Great day!!
