Girls Winter Concert

Here are some videos of the girls winter concert.....I couldn't see Rayzel, but her group did pretty good :)

My Christmas Project

I made some champagne glass candles for my bro and sis in law for Christmas...it was pretty fun, and not that hard! I thought that they turned out really nice.
I neglected to take pics in the beginning when I put the wicks in, but it wasn't that exciting anyway ;)

Melting the wax

Newly poured

The bands of color faded as they cooled off, and it was interesting to watch....

The color changed as they cooled off too....they were much lighter than I though they would be, but still pretty...

Our 8th Anniversary

Normally we try to take a trip or do something cool for our anniversary......this year we were so tired from all the traveling that we decided to just have a picnic :)

We took a nice drive
Stopped here and pulled over to the side of the road
Tom shows me his fabulous picnic place
It is indeed fabulous :) The water is so pretty, I bet lots of people swim here...
I started to set up chairs, then noticed something on the ground....
Apparently swimming isn't all that people like to do here....this was literally the the most innocent thing I saw on the ground....and the area was covered in similar garbage, beer bottles, bras, used condoms, and even a sex toy.....
I wasn't up for THAT kind of celebration, so we started looking for a new picnic spot...
Looking back up the hill
No 'swimmers' on this side :)
Lunch!
Happy Anniversary <3

Random Calvin

The Pentagon Channel did a 3 part series on bullying recently. They came to the middle school where Calvin, Nana and Rayzel go, and filmed some of the students and staff. Calvin has some air time in parts 1 and 3, and they interviewed the school psychiatrist, Mr. Von Hagen, who we work pretty closely with.

Halloween

Didn't get too many pics of Halloween this year.....I helped with the ward party this year, and Tom was working both of those nights, so, I only got pics of a couple of the kids on Halloween....

Grandma Mollenhauer made Nana a medieval princess costume this year at her request....
Jack was a Death Eater from Harry Potter, but he forgot half his costume at home....
I made James a Bam Bam costume this year....we ended up buying him a Woody costume cuz he wouldn't leave it on....he liked Woody much better...
With Evelyn as Pebbles...they were so cute together....

Ahhhh Zombies!

My friends are 5K junkies and they finally talked me into doing one this last October. I trained for a while, but that didn't work out. Turns out I can't run without developing micro tears in my leg muscles, which means constant pain that Motrin, Percocet, massages, hot showers and cold packs don't touch...also, I should probably get checked for asthma, cuz gasping for breath every time I get up to a decent pace isn't usual, I'm told. Anyhoo, it didn't stop me from participating in the 'Run For Your Lives' 5K Obstacle Course Zombie Race with my two best buds and their hubbies :)  Basically, you have to run 5K and clear obstacles while being chased by zombies. They even gave you little flags that the zombies had to grab off of your belt and when you ran out you were dead. I died before the 7th obstacle, I think....pretty early on anyway....but I still finished the race....with a time of almost 2 hours....
(sadly, Tom had to work that day and could neither participate or spectate)
Thanks, V for taking all the pictures!! Here they are in no particular order....
The dessert line is for slow people...Jen and V's hubbies were in the other two lines, appetizer, and entree.....
After the asthma attack...
Making sure V is coming in....
After swimming in what was supposed to be 5 feet of icy water, but turned out to be more like 7 feet of icy mud...
We had to duct tape our shoes on so they wouldn't come off...

Yes, actually....
This wasn't just a steep hill, it was a REALLY steep hill, and worse because it was so muddy...they made us slither down it, and then swim back up it.....
We are not pictured here on the climbing wall....none of us wanted those awkward butt shots posted on the internet....you had to slide down the other side...apparently someone broke their leg on it later in the day.....
The river of mud.....was supposed to be blood, but, too many dirty people....
We made it up the hill! With only minor bruises!
Pretty glad for that duct tape about now....these are V's shoes by the way....
Here we are, entering the finish line....Jen beat us in, and her hubby Seth is encouraging us along from the sidelines...he and Termain made it in WAY before us....
Trying to get my shoes off...glad I wore my VFF's (toe shoes) and not tennis shoes...took V like 20 minutes to untie hers cuz of all the muddy water, and frozen fingers.....
The cool medals they gave everyone who finished...
My favorite part was changing into clean dry clothes behind the towels my friends were holding up.....yeah....mental note, always bring a beach towel, not a bath towel....
Free Monster energy drinks...never had one until that day...Monster light is way gross....also I was shocked and appalled when I read the ingredients on the back...drink in ignorance my friend....
It had rained for like a week before the race, so there was lots of mud...lots of cars got stuck....this guy's gonna need a car wash....
The guys helped lots of people get unstuck, so when it was time for us to leave, we were prepared. We had bribed a bunch of college guys who were camping nearby with our free beer tickets, which we had no need of, so, when we did get a little stuck, they came and helped us out. All in all it was a blast, and now I understand what my friends are talking about when they get all amped about a new race. Needless to say, I am signed up for this same race next year, and so is Tom....if you wanna join us, here is the link :)
