The Savage Race

Back in July we 'upped the ante' and did an extreme 10K instead of a regular 5K. It was Spectacular and ruined all future races for me. I also lost my video camera with all the race pics while washing off in the pond :(
Luckily, my friends took pics as well so I still have lots of good shots...I have some pretty cool friends :)
I think I'll do this one again next year!

The Group- Undercover SKA style ;)  Tom didn't go cuz we took a spur of the moment trip to NY for the Hill Cumorah pageant and got back late, and he had to work that night :(  I however was awake and running on adrenaline!
Bestie's
The girls
The first obstacle- ice water with a barbed wire barrier to go under, forcing you to submerge and swim under. It was COLD.
Here is M going under...she almost pushed me over trying to get out...I was in front of her lol!
I was the first to fall
Muddy but happy :)
More barbed wire
We had to crawl through broken clay pigeons and shot gun shells...it wasn't part of the obstacle though :/
I don't run down muddy hills...it's just not smart.
I did manage to run up the muddy board and grab the rope though....on my third try....
Log carrying
M set the female record with 6 logs
I just carried two cuz I was saving my strength
Carrying logs is thirsty work!
The guys made it across, this guy did it twice...showoff :P
M and V started together....
Until V kicked M off LOL!!!
V made it halfway...I fell off one bar in...no upper body strength
Booo on that obstacle!
Taking a break :)
Slogging through swamp..there were little tiny red leeches :P
Something was funny
15 foot jump into a pit of water...competent swimmers only!
Looking down from the top
On the way down!
Sad we couldn't do it again :(
More mud, barbed wire, and sprinklers
Me on the left
Climbing bales of hay...
I needed help.
M and I tried and failed this one but V made it...she has a strong background in climbing coconut trees...cheater....but we found a ladder on the side so we could get to the top anyway
There was this cool slide at the top...
V and I made a big splash :)
They had us crawling through mud and hanging electrodes at the end....I went around cuz I'm not a fan of being electrocuted....I was barefoot and standing in wet grass when James touched an electric fence once, and I'm So not into that kind of thrill anymore :/

New Callings.....

A few months ago, I got a new calling...it means I get to spend a lot more time with my teenagers at church events!! This weekend I was able to go with Calvin to the temple to help put up the Christmas lights and do some planting :)

Fellow presidency members lighting bushes :D
Calvin :)
Creative way to get across the reflection pool to the bushes to put lights on hehehe
The best part was the hot chocolate and donuts! That's me in the middle with my back turned ;)

More James Updates

He can climb to the top of a 12 foot chain link fence in less time than it takes Tom to pull out his camera....
His new favorite place to sleep is with me, on Tom's side of the bed, so when Tom comes home from work he gets to move James back into his own room :)
I finally found someone willing to grind the wheat :)

James And Conference

We spent Conference weekend with some good friends. They have a little boy James age who has cerebral palsy, and doesn't walk well....they like to play together, which is nice cuz all of James other friends are girls lol! James loves going to their house cuz they have always have a variety of different farm animals there, and most importantly, chickens. Anytime he starts talking about chickens I know what he's thinking about ;) They have just under an acre of yard, and he loves running around there...we are looking for a new house that has at least an acre of land so he'll like our yard too. When we were there the chickens had been moved and all he could find was this one duck, but he chased it anyway....and no, we're not getting chickens at our new house ;)
His friend T has a little powerwheel jeep that has been rigged to accelerate from the steering wheel instead of a pedal, and James had fun riding around in it with T.....I got a super cute video of them too, but I'll have to post it later cuz it's on the computer that's in UT right now getting serviced.
